Since 1962, we have performed resuscitation "CPR" expecting the heart to be restarted, this supplied oxygenated blood to the brain but there is only 2% chance for the heart to start.
Using a defibrillator within 10 minutes there is a 56% chance that the heart will be started.
First aiders have been trained to use these machines within the workplace from 1997 and defibrillators have been placed in public places. The heart will usually stop due to prolonged lack of breathing, electrocution, heart attack and hypothermia.
We at Avon First Aid can give training and advice regarding purchase and security of these machines should your company elect to use a truly life saving first aid response. |
